Zaječická, Saidchitzer or Sedlitz Water?
Natural healing resources are not a product, but a commodity. The name therefore remains according to the first used name in the professional literature. For our location, Dr. F. Hoffmann, the name of the village of Sedlec, in the following years highlighted the Saidchitz well. The English-speaking public adopted the easy-to-pronounce name SEDLITZ, which then became the worldwide copycat Sedlitz Powders. The German-speaking native population preferred the name SAIDSCHITZER associated with the verse: “Said Schützer eurer Gesundheit, Saidschitz”. In the local context, it was more advantageous also because there are more municipalities with the name Sedlec.
